Sangkom Thei High School is located in Tbeng village in Preah Vihear province, which is a remote area around 300km and more than 5 hours drive from Phnom Penh. The school is located on 4.0 hectares of land and consists of 4 buildings.
The school was established in 2008 with 4 buildings containing 20 class rooms. Next to that the school also has dormitories for teachers (2 with 8 rooms) and students (2 with 5 rooms) because they have to travel a long distance from their homes. The school employs 23 teachers, of which 10 females, that teach 411 students from grade 10 - 12, of which 224 girls.
The computer lab was installed and opened on July 25th, 2025 in the presence the deputy director of DoE, Chief of DoE, director of school management community, the principal and several teachers, the IFL team with Mr. Rikkert Beerekamp online.
Mr. Sovanna, 42, the school principal said “I very happy to receive this valuable gift from IFL project that helped students learn computers because it is very important for students in the future. It is my first time to receive the such a great gift and donation”
Mr. Bunthan 33, an IT teacher said that “We are very pleased to have the computer lab in our school that we have never had before. We will take a good care of it and work hard to teach students to have real knowledge and skills in computer technology to contribute to serving our community.”
Sreyoun 17, a student grade 11 said that “It is my great opportunity to have the computer lab in school. It has been hard for us to learn IT as we did not have any lab. It was rare to get supported for our school in the such a remote community.
With your kind donation, we will try our best to learn IT and use the knowledge to help our community. I am truly grateful to the donors, IFL project.”
Mr. Vanthang 45, the director of School Management Community (SMC) said that “IT is the most powerful tool to develop ourselves before our community can be developed. I am very pleased to receive the computer lab from IFL project. I would appreciate for your kind and generous donation. I would also like to thank for choosing my school to be a partner after the assessment. We commit to maximize to use the lab for both the students and teachers”
